SPRC, one of the largest photonics programs in the US, brings together a faculty of 30 core photonics professors and approximately 150 graduate students and postdoctoral research associates in the Schools of Engineering, Humanities & Sciences, and Medicine. Photonics research at Stanford University is strongly interdisciplinary and includes the fields of lasers, optics, microscopy, quantum information and cryptography, neuroscience, solar cells, ophthalmology and telecommunications, to name just a few.
