A photonic crystal cavity with a strongly coupled quantum dot is coherently driven using short laser pulses. Depending on the driving frequency, photon blockade or photon induced tunneling is observed. In the case of photon blockade, a single photon trapped inside the cavity can block the transmission of subsequent photons. For photon-induced tunneling the reverse happens, a single trapped photon enhancing the probability of subsequent photons to tunnel into the resonator.
