The Stanford Photonics Research Center 2008 Symposium provided an overview of many of the exciting uses of lasers, optics and photonics technologies in a wide array of scientific disciplines and commercial applications. Attendees included several hundred academic research scientists, senior managers from major companies, funding agency personnel, and members of the investment community.
This one-day workshop featured invited presentations from leading researchers who examined in-depth the major technical hurdles that must be overcome to advance thin film photovoltaic materials to the point where grid parity can be achieved.
In June 2008, SPRC presented Solar Energy: New Materials and Nanostructured Devices, a popular workshop that addressed the major scientific and technical challenges involved in the development of advanced devices for third-generation solar cells and for other high-efficiency energy conversion devices
The first event of 2008 was a Quantum Technologies Workshop on April 19. This one-day workshop discussed developing aspects of quantum technologies with potential applications in communications, computation, and navigation.
This year's Symposium will be held on September 14-16 in Braun Auditorium.
For the first time, all Stanford photonics students, post-docs, and faculty are invited to gather together for a weekend retreat on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula. All departments are welcome!
This event is for current Stanford students only.
SPRC would like to announce a new lunch seminar series on entrepreneurship in collaboration with Goodwin Procter.
